Hannah & Hal at Lissanoure Castle, Northern Ireland. It was an unspeakable privilege to be flown out to shoot this wedding, and I fell in love with both their love story and Hannah’s country. Every moment of their 16 hour wedding told of God’s goodness. Shooting their wedding was one of the best things I’ve ever done, and the story of how I got there is pretty crazy (if you make it to the bottom you’ll find out!).
A long time ago I decided vulnerability is one of the most painful and beautiful character traits a person can have. For the last few years I have walked the risky path of vulnerability on social media for the sake of sharing how good God really is. Before Instagram was Tumblr, and four years ago, thousands of miles away, an Irish girl found help and hope through my posts as she walked through similar struggles. Over time she watched me become a wedding photographer, and when she got engaged she asked me to shoot her wedding – not only because of my photos, but because she felt connected to my story.
Who would have thought my little Tumblr posts from years ago would have been the foundations for the trip of a lifetime to a tiny town in Northern Ireland where I would meet some of the kindest people in the world. I encountered the beautiful intentionality of God in Ireland in ways I haven’t before. He has been planning these days for the last four years without me ever knowing. It’s breathtaking to glimpse the intricacies of the way life unfolds. Thank you Hannah for choosing me, and for reminding me that God is always using His children to point each other to Him even from across the world. What a generation we live in!
